Player Level, Teams and League Division Descriptions
Intermediate B Division
1/2, 3/4, 5/6 & 7/8 Grade - developing players with 1+ years of experience. These teams prepare for and play in a recreational league division that will allow our newer players to be challenged and have success. Here we also introduce and develop girls new to the sport and prepare them for competitive play. Players on these teams are looking to develop their skills and game knowledge while competing against similarly experienced teams.
A Division Teams*
3/4, 5/6 & 7/8 Grade - skilled players with 2+ years of experience. These teams prepare for and play in a competitive championship recreational league against similarly experienced players and teams. "A" division players are skilled in the lacrosse fundamentals; ground balls, catching and throwing on the run. They understand offensive and defensive strategy and understand the rules of the game - typically these players strive to play at the AA, club or high school level.
AA Division Teams*
5/6 & 7/8 Grade - highly skilled players with several years of experience. These teams prepare for and play in the most competitive non-club championship league in Montgomery County. Those on our AA Division teams are typically club-level players, many of which do play for area club teams. "AA" division players are highly skilled in the lacrosse fundamentals; ground balls, dominant and non-dominant hand catching and throwing. They understand and execute offensive strategies with out prompting. Defensively they execute double teams, slides and clears. They understand the rules of the game and leverage the rules to gain advantages on the field. These players typically play year round lacrosse and many strive to play at the highest levels to include college.
*Players for A and AA division teams are selected through a preseason evaluation process. Additional evaluations will be conducted by Stingers 'coaches and external evaluators from area club and HS programs.
